14 December 2017 | Rellingen, Germany
On 30 November, some 500 participants gathered in Rellingen near Hamburg for the Hofmann Technology Day and Expo 2017. This important yearly event gathers road marking experts from all over the world to network and exchange technical ideas.
During the morning session, dedicated to lectures and presentations, ERF Director General, Christophe Nicodème, was invited to deliver a presentation on the topic of ‘Financing the Road Infrastructure and the revision of the Eurovignette Directive’.
The ERF and its member are actively working through a dedicated Working Group to promote the proper installation and maintenance of markings on European Roads.
This presentation was an opportunity to underline the position of the ERF regarding the proposed revision of the so-called ‘Eurovignette Directive’, as well as the importance of securing the necessary financing resources for the maintenance and the improvement of our road infrastructure in order to provide road users with the level of service they expect and deserve.
More specifically, the ERF welcomes the proposal which, among others, aims to establish a common framework for road charging across Europe. However, this is not ensuring that the revenues will be reinvested back to roads and roads equipment.
