Joseph MarraPresident
Joseph Marra is a professional with a strong foundation in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Liège in Belgium.
He began his career at the University of Liège, working in the Material Mechanics department, where he managed industrial projects for two years. In 2005, he joined ArcelorMittal’s Construction Research Centre as a calculation engineer specializing in roadside safety equipment. By 2012, he had advanced to the role of Program Leader within the Civil Engineering department.
Joseph later joined GDTech, an engineering services company, where he currently serves as Chief Business Development Officer. His main responsibility is to grow the company’s simulation services, particularly in crash and dynamic analysis using LS-DYNA, with a focus on roadside safety systems.
He has been actively involved in several key industry organizations. Since 2005, he has been a member of the European Road Federation (where he has been Treasurer), he joined the Smart Transportation Alliance in 2017 and the INTOROADS association in 2023. Joseph is recognized as an expert in both Belgium and France for his contributions to the development of European standards EN1317 and EN12767, through his work with Technical Group 226.
GDTech also participates in meetings of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) related to NCHRP 350 and MASH. Joseph is a European Committee Member of the TRB AKD20 Committee on Roadside Safety Design. Additionally, he represents the EUDARTS association in French-speaking regions (FRDARTS), where he focuses on the use of vehicle data collected from crash events.
