ERF present at Connecting Europe Days in Lyon

01 July 2022 | Lyon, France

From 28th to 30th June, under the EU French Presidency, the European Commission organised in Lyon the Connecting Europe Days – formerly known as TEN-T days.

This event gathered some 1500 participants, politicians, industry representatives and members of the Commission to discuss about transport and mobility issues and their role in achieving the ambitious goals set out in the European Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.

In particular, the 2022 edition focused on explaining different initiatives, projects and programmes to make the European transport network greener and more resilient in line with the EU policy objectives. The ERF was present together with Routes de France explaining our activities to address current challenges in road safety, digitalisation, sustainability and asset management that can be summarized in three main actions for the coming years:

  • Promote an effective multimodal approach including ALL modes
  • Continue modernizing road infrastructure: upgrade & maintenance
  • Ensure inclusiveness, fairness & efficiency of roads for all users especially in cities (i.e. bikes) and alternative fuels (i.e. electric and hydrogen vehicles)

Participants also had the opportunity to discover innovations in the exhibition part reserved to EU-funded projects, as well as demonstrations of alternative mobility vehicles and automated transport.

ERF was also invited to pitch at the Marketplace area different projects in which our organisation is involved, and more specifically the project FORESEE, which was finalised recently. The R&I project funded under the Horizon 2020 Programme has developed a toolkit to improve resilience of transport infrastructure to potentially disruptive events caused by the nature and humans.
