As an active member the Industry4Europe coalition, the ERF is pleased to invite you to attend the high-level roundtable on “EU Industrial Policy: results and prospects for the next institutional cycle” which the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and Industry4Europe will jointly organise on 7 March at 17:00 in the premises of the EESC.

Industry4Europe is a coalition bringing together 138 European federations – representing all industrial sectors – who have come together to make sure that Europe will maintain its world leadership and safeguard industrial jobs and know-how on the continent.

With the participation of high-level speakers from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Presidency of the Council, the EESC, European industry and trade unions, this roundtable will provide an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the contribution of industry to jobs and growth in Europe and to not only look back at what has been achieved but also look forward to what should be done in the coming years to foster the competitiveness and the world leadership of European industry.

The 9^th edition of the DeuSAT Congress will be held on 27 and 28 March 2019 in Cologne, Germany. This event is organised under the auspices of the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.

The Congress, also hosting an exhibition, will offer participants the opportunity to get informed and exchange views on current matters of interest for the road infrastructure sector. The event will also give an overview of the latest developments in traffic road technology.

The challenges from the transition to the digital age are enormous, whether it concerns new regulations on data protection or automated driving. The ERF is pleased to announce that it will host a dedicated section on the topic of ‘Mobility of the Future – Which opportunities the 3^rd Mobility Package brings us?’

More specifically, the ERF workshop that will take place on Thursday 28^th March from 14.00 to 16.00 will present the point of view of the European Commission, as well as the vision from the automotive sector and the perspective of the European road infrastructure sector regarding the challenges of automated and connected vehicles.

The 6th International Conference “Inspection, Audit and Importance of Intelligent Transport Systems” is a result of the collaboration of the College of Applied Technical Sciences “Tempulli”, the Kosovo Association of Motorization “AMRKS”, the Institute of Road Safety and Transport Research, as well as the Kosovo Forum for Road Safety. These activities will be supported by the Ministry of Infrastructure. 

The Conference will bring together key stakeholders engaged on road safety,  with the aim to exchange best practices in effective road safety action programs between local, regional and European experts.

The Conference will be held on 24-27 January 2019 in Prishtina, Kosovo.

The automation of vehicles is steadily progressing, considering the increasing number of driver assistance systems that relieve drivers from many tasks. On the other hand, most of our road infrastructure was built at a time when automation was not yet a topic.

In order to ensure safe and efficient traffic involving automated and non-automated cars, our road infrastructure will have to adapt. Austrian projects like INFRAMIX or Alp.LAB are investigating potential contributions from the infrastructure. Thereby communications will play an important role: among cars (V2V), between cars and the infrastructure (V2I) and in particular between cars and other road users.

During this forum, the following questions shall be discussed: what are the physical and digital requirements a future infrastructure will have to comply with? How shall the enormous amount of generated data be communicated? In comparison to the US what is the strategy of Europe? Which experience could be gained from tests so far? Is the public authority aligned with car industry and infrastructure operators on this topic?

The next generation of mobility will involve, among others, new players from the energy and telecommunication sector. An efficient  inter – sectoral cooperation will bring several benefits to traditional stakeholders, road managers and users in terms of safety, sustainability and efficiency. 

The ERF Lab is intended to be the first of a series of events to give the floor to representatives from the ecosystem around roads to present their visions on future mobility trends and possible impacts on the road infrastructure sector.

The AFB20(2) Subcommittee will be conducting its 6th European Meeting on Thursday October 18 in Lisbon, Portugal.

In cooperation with the International Road Federation, Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC) and the Transport Research Board, the ERF is pleased to announce the 2018 edition of the AFB20 (2) Roadside Safety Design Subcommittee on International Research Activities. The one-day meeting will be a unique opportunity for road safety experts around the globe to gather and exchange information concerning the latest trends and developments in the area of passive safety and road safety design.

Event description

South East Europe is at an important crossroads in the development of its connectivity programs, securing a critical role as a gateway for international trade routes between East and West. Due to its privileged geographical position, Croatia has been at the forefront of this process, through regional cooperation initiatives such as the Adriatic-Ionian motorway corridor.

At a time of growing motorisation, the region’s network of roads and highways is currently its largest public asset. However, significant challenges remain to enhance the safety, efficiency, environmental sustainability and resilience of the road network, underscoring the value of regional and programmatic cooperation around highway & sustainable mobility initiatives.

Organised by key representative organizations of the roads & mobility sector, the European Road Conference “Corridors for Shared Prosperity” offers an essential platform to deepen the understanding of these challenges, widen the engagement framework with regional road stakeholders, and achieve consensus on key policy, investment and planning measures.
