The European Union Road Federation, together with its members active in the road marking business would like to express their concern regarding the current situation of the supply of raw materials for the manufacture of road marking materials.
At the international level, we notice strong disruption in the worldwide production of essential raw materials (such as solvents, resins, titanium dioxide…) necessary for the manufacture of road marking materials, added to shortage of materials delivery generating substantial delays in the global supply chain. This situation has not only an impact on the Road markings production industry but on the whole business of paint, varnish and coating worldwide, as recently stated by the European trade association of the coatings sector (CEPE).
The current situation could have a very negative impact in the availability of materials for road marking operations in Europe and outside, as we are just at the beginning of the marking season. It might cause potential delays in the programming of road markings contracts in the coming weeks and months.
The road marking industry is obviously doing everything it can to overcome this situation by keeping the inconveniences to the lowest possible level and to respect its commitments towards its customers and for road safety.
